Golf in and near Dolgellau

Having played host to the 2010 Ryder Cup and with a choice of over 170 courses to play - Wales has developed a big reputation for golf.

Legends of past and present have played Aberdyfi - Bernard Darwin as a top amateur played in the first Walker Cup of 1922 and a few decades later Ian Woosnam has counted it a 'spiritual home' away from the pressures of the top ranking circuit.

The golf course is located close by the University with a backdrop of Cardigan Bay. Built in 1911, its designer, Harry Vardon is still revered in golfing circles today.

Machynlleth Golf Club is a much loved nine hole heathland golf course which is situated on the outskirts of Machynlleth, an historic market town in Powys, Mid Wales.

 

In spring and early summer, the course is at its best with colour from the gorse and rhododendrons and the occasional red kite circling overhead.

  • Surrounded by wonderful mountain scenery, there are splendid views from every part of the golf course.
